Under the guide of Fraunhofer IAO various renowned business partners now participate in our business area ‘hotel and events’. In regular control meetings innovative ideas are developed and research projects created.

 Innovation workshop »NextHotelLab«


On the ground floor as well as on the first floor of inHaus2 there are laboratories of the business are hotel and events. On an area of 1.400 sqm the so called »NextHotelLab« is used as an innovation workshop by participating Fraunhofer-Institutes and their partners.

While FlexibleLab, MediaLab and WellComLab are still under construction, the showcase »FutureHotel« was already put into operation at the opening of inHaus2 – under the curious eyes of the press. Ever since then »FutureHotel« is used for the correspondent project as a research platform. 
The event area on the ground floor also serves as a means of evaluating and demonstrating innovative solutions, for instance in the area of conference rooms, illuminating or room acoustics.

The scenario-project »FutureHotel«, a joint research project under the direction of Fraunhofer IAO, is designed in co-operation with the most important business partners. Within the frame of the project central questions and requirements for the hotel of the future are discussed and analysed.

Relevant key developments and their consequences on the hotel sector are analysed as well as the requirements of different types of guests and the optimisation of hotel operations. For hotel areas such as hotel rooms, reception, conference rooms, etc. new, future-oriented solutions are shown and technological innovations as well as economical, ecological and societal factors are included.

Furthermore the showcase »FutureHotel« gives researchers a unique opportunity to combine theoretical research with an authentic testing area.

The project started in December 2008. In the following areas research is carried out within the first phase of the project.
