The Health&Care Solutions (HCS) team is engaged with the main research topic "Use of ambient technologies (intelligent room systems) in the area of health and nursing". Of particular interest are the advance of user autonomy by means of assisting solutions and the improvement of care processes are of partivular importance.

 

Aims in the development of assisting solutions are, among others, the prevention and detection of plunges, target-oriented reminders (e.g. with the help of illumination) and emergency diagnosis.

Among other thins, the team HCS develops sensor- and software components and entire solutions prototypically for ambient assistance of (e.g. dementia affected) residents and of nursing staff. In this connection, a special focus lies on early diagnosis with the help of behavior monitoring, care assistance and autonomy enahncement and multi-sensory-environmental-therapy to increase the patient's well-being and to determine the need of intervention.
In the process, ambient solutions are evalutated (via sensor-support) in close to reality living and laboratory environments and in field tests.

The team organizes training sessions and workshops for users, nursing staff, decision makers and sales representatives on the topic of the application of ambient solutions for dementia-patients. In addition, the HCS team offers the presentation of the developed healt and care solutions in a close to reality model of a living environment in the Fraunhofer-inHaus-Center.

Their advisory function includes public relations, development of business models for system solutions, efficiency evaluation and quantification of assisting solutions and components and tests concerning integration and compatibility and ensures the system's interoperability.
